As a lifelong Star Trek fan who grew up watching The Next Generation, every time I sip a cup of Earl Grey tea, I can’t help but think of Jean-Luc Picard famously ordering it, “Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.” However, I’m pretty sure Picard wasn’t drinking an Earl Grey blend with rose petals! That said, this tea is truly wonderful—a delightful surprise. I’m always open to trying new variations of Earl Grey, and this one is packed with flavor.
The tartness of the raspberries doesn’t overwhelm the drink, while the gentle hint of lavender adds a mellow touch. Normally, I’m a bit hesitant about mixing lavender with a Hafnia blend because of how soothing it can be, but it’s a welcome addition here, balancing the natural stimulus of the tea. The rose petals add such a fragrant aroma—it’s like enjoying a bouquet with every cup.
Personally, I prefer this tea with a splash of milk, but then again, I think milk is almost always a must with black tea, and this blend is no exception.
Like all the teas from Valhalla Tea, a portion of the proceeds from this blend goes to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting veterans, which I find especially meaningful as the child of a Vietnam-era veteran. It’s a small way to give back to the community, and it makes enjoying this tea even more satisfying.
If you’re curious about trying something different, I highly recommend this blend. And if you’ve tried it before, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Hot or Cold?
I always drink my Earl Grey teas hot—after all, if Jean-Luc Picard had them that way, who am I to question his judgment? This particular tea is a fantastic addition to my winter collection. It has a touch of floral notes that give it a hint of summer, while still being a soothing, warming drink for chilly days.
