The Monkey King tea blend is a unique combination featuring chocolate, banana, walnut, and a base of green tea. It’s a caffeinated tea with a subtle flavor profile. I had hoped it would be similar to The Republic of Tea’s banana blend, which has a stronger banana-chocolate flavor, but The Monkey King has a much softer taste. This blend allows the green tea’s natural flavor to shine through more prominently.
When you look at the tea, you’ll notice real pieces of banana, cocoa, almonds, and walnuts—almost like the ingredients for banana nut bread. It’s visually appealing and unique. Since it’s a green tea, it only requires a short brewing time of 2-3 minutes to avoid bitterness.
One standout aspect of Valhalla Tea Co. is their mission. The company donates part of its proceeds to support American troops and veteran-based non-profits. The founder, a veteran himself who served for ten years, found solace in loose-leaf tea to help manage his PTSD and anxiety. Now, he shares that passion for tea with others, making Valhalla Tea Co. a brand with a meaningful purpose.
